The GCup started as a small tournament entirely hosted by the old version of Godly Fate International (GFate). The first season was played around the beginning of 2021 and saw 16 teams fight for the title of GCup S1 winner. Helix Academy won the grand final against SSS and took home the price of 50€ (which was funded by our sponsor Zatnikitel).
After a short one month break the admins Juri and p40lo planned a even bigger version of the tournament for season 2 which should have had 32 teams competing on a high competitive level but due to internal problems and the two admins leaving the organisation GFate the second season of the GCup was cancelled and the project was abandoned.
Between May and October 2021, Juri and p40lo decided to join the professional organization Team Guardians to gain a wider insight into the comp scene. In agreement with the orgs founder and leader Weatherstation they decided to take up the project again and lead it into a professional direction. With the help of HOLY Energy (and Zatnikitel) they were able to set up a price pool in a worth of 200€ and start the tournament again. Fortunately in a small amount of time 16 teams were found and by the 19th december 2021 the winner of the season 1 of the „reborn“ GCup was proclaimed. Senthex took home 70€ and 100€ worth of HOLY Energy trial packs by beating NCG esport in the grand final.
Ursprünglich wurde GCup als kleines Turnier unter der Organisation Godly Fate International (GFate). Die erste Season wurde Anfang 2021 mit 16 Teams veranstaltet. Helix Academy gewann das Grand Final gegen SSS und nahm damit die 50€ Preisgeld mit nach Hause (das Preisgeld wurde gestellt von unserem Sponsor Zatnikitel).
Nach einer kurzen einmonatigen Pause der Admins Juri und p40lo wurde eine noch größere Version des Turniers für die 2. Season mit 32 Teams auf einem höheren kompetitiven Niveau geplant. Diese musste jedoch aufgrund von internen Problemen und dem Leaven von Juri und p40lo aus GFate gecancelt werden.
Zwischen Mai und Oktober 2021 traten Juri und p40lo der professionellen Organisation Team Guardians bei um einen besseren Einblick in die Esport Competitive Szene zu bekommen.
Durch die Zustimmung des Organisationsgründers und -leiters Weatherstation wurde das Projekt wieder aufgenommen und in eine professionellere Richtung gelenkt. Mit der Hilfe von HOLY Energy (und Zatnikitel) konnte ein Preis Pool von über 200€ verwirklicht werden.
Innerhalb kurzer Zeit war es so möglich 16 Teams für die neue erste Season zu finden, die am 19 Dezember im Finale zwischen Senthex und NCG esport endete. Mit Senthex als Gewinner konnten diese 70€ Preisgeld und 100€ an HOLY Energy Produkten mit nach Hause nehmen.
